InsideVue screening ultrasound examinations

Medical screening examinations and clinics are offered as direct access services to patients.

There’s no need to get a letter of referral from your GP or consultant and no delays waiting for them to be typed, faxed or posted. You just call us and book your appointment; it’s as simple as that! Of course, if you would prefer to have a referral made for you, perhaps you have a complicated medical history, then that’s fine too. The choice is entirely yours.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm £80.00

The aorta is the largest artery (blood vessel) in the body. It carries blood from the heart and descends through the chest and abdomen. At about the level of the pelvis the aorta divides into two arteries, supplying blood to each leg. An aneurysm is an area of localised widening of an artery. The wall of an aneurysm is weaker than a normal artery wall. The pressure of the blood inside the artery causes the weaker section of wall to "balloon". Aneurysms occur most commonly in the abdominal aorta. Sometimes they occur in the section going through the chest. Aortic aneurysms vary in size. Our abdominal aortic aneurysm scan, sometimes known as triple A scan, examines the aorta and surrounding areas. Because we are using state of the art equipment we are able to accurately measure the aorta and archive the study so that if a follow-up or annual check is required, we are able to make comparative measurements. Often, screening companies will provide a "yes" or "no" result and recommend that you go back to see your GP just in case. We provide a substantive clinical report prepared by our highly qualified sonographers.

Smokescreen £80.00

Stopping smoking is always urgent and never too late. Every cigarette smoked damages the lungs in a way that may not show up until later in life.
Now there is a scan that can actually show the damage you are causing and seeing this harmful effect for yourself may be the push needed to encourage you to stop smoking. The Smokescreen ultrasound scan of your carotid artery will show up “plaque” that has formed and will give you a snapshot of how your circulation is coping.
By measuring the thickness of the arterial walls, it is possible to discover how much deterioration has taken place. Stopping smoking will reduce your risk of illness, disability or death caused by cancer, heart and lung disease so book today for a scan which may give you the motivation to stop.

Strokescan £80.00

Strokescan is an ultrasound scan to determine whether any damage has taken place that might affect the carotid artery. The scan is aimed at those patients who have a family history of strokes, have elevated cholesterol levels or where they suffer with hypertension (high blood pressure). If you fall into one of these categories, you can self-refer for our Strokescan screening examination, alternatively your doctor or consultant can refer you to us for this simple scan.
Like our Smokescreen scan, the Strokescan examination concentrates upon the formation of “plaque” in the carotid artery, usually caused by raised cholesterol levels. Measurement of the arterial wall thickness enables the sonographer to determine the stroke risk factors as well as provide a snapshot of how your circulation is coping.
